Real Talk. Real Tools. Real Change.
Life gets busy.
Heavy. Messy.
Complicated.
Sometimes we simply need a place to slow down, tell the truth, and remember we don't have to carry everything alone.
Whether you're looking for counseling, professional growth, or simply a place to begin, we're glad you're here.
Pull up a chair.
Everybody has something they're carrying.
Some carry grief.
Some carry anxiety.
Some carry shame.
Some carry questions.
Some carry dreams they've almost given up on.
Some carry stories they've never told another soul.
Around here, what we carry doesn’t have to stay hidden or neatly packaged. Sometimes we simply need a place
to set it down, name it honestly, and decide what comes next.
Virtual counseling for teens and young adults ready to set down what they’ve been carrying and begin an honest conversation.
Professional education, consultation, and renewal where knowledge is shared—and everyone leaves with something useful to carry into the work ahead.
Thoughtful, practical supervision for developing counselors finding their voice, strengthening their judgment, and growing into the work.
Life gets complicated. People carry difficult stories. Helping work rarely comes with tidy answers—and even experienced professionals sometimes wonder whether they’re getting it right.
So, we put it on the porch.
We talk honestly about relationships, trauma, uncertainty, burnout, difficult systems, and the very human experience of helping other humans. We bring research and real life to the same table, make room for questions, and turn meaningful conversation into practical next steps.
Sometimes that happens in counseling. Sometimes in supervision or around a training table. And sometimes we step beyond the porch—onto a trail, beside the water, or into a quieter place where we can slow down and notice what we’ve been carrying.
No posturing. No pretending. Just honest conversation, grounded support, and room to grow.
Put it on the porch. Give it room to breathe. Carry something useful home.

We make room for the complicated, uncomfortable, and sometimes messy parts of life and helping work.
Clinical reasoning, ethics, evidence-based approaches, and real-world experience belong at the same table.
Reflection helps us notice what the usual pace of life and work can make easy to miss. Discover this unique approach at SereniTea Solutions.
Every experience should offer a practical tool, a clearer perspective, or a realistic next step.
These are the commitments that guide how we counsel, teach, supervise, consult, and walk beside others. No matter what brings you to the porch, this is what you can expect from us.
You don't have to have the right words, the perfect plan, or everything figured out before you arrive.
Whether you're seeking counseling, supervision, or consultation, we'll meet you with respect, curiosity, and compassion - not judgment.
Every person's story deserves to be heard before solutions are offered.
Real listening creates understanding.
Understanding creates trust.
And trust creates the foundation where meaningful change becomes possible.
Good documentation, sound ethics, and thoughtful systems matter.
They help us provide excellent care.
But they should always support the relationship—not replace it.
We'll pursue excellence without ever forgetting the human being sitting across from us.
Healing isn't linear.
Learning isn't either.
Questions are welcome.
Mistakes become opportunities.
And every challenge becomes part of the story you're growing into.
Big transformations are often built
from ordinary moments.
One conversation.
One healthy boundary.
One difficult decision.
One brave step at a time.
We'll celebrate every one of them.
We don't define people by diagnoses, crises, or difficult seasons.
Together we'll look for resilience, wisdom, hope, and possibility -
even when they're hard to see.
Because they're almost always there.
We'll tell the truth with kindness.
We'll own our mistakes.
We'll honor confidentiality.
And we'll strive to make decisions we'd still be proud of years from now.
Whether you're finding your voice, carrying more than anyone realizes, or simply trying to find your footing again, we'll walk beside you for as long as we're needed.
That's what neighbors do.
That's what the Front Porch is for.

Front Porch Learning wasn't created just to offer continuing education.
It was created because we believe counselors deserve a place where questions are welcomed, difficult cases can be discussed honestly, and learning continues long after graduate school.
A place where research meets real life.
Where theory becomes practice.
Where experienced clinicians keep learning right alongside those just beginning their journey.
Every Front Porch Learning session brings together two complementary perspectives—understanding the story our clients carry and translating that understanding into ethical, practical, compassionate care.
Pull up a chair.
We're glad you're here.
Two Perspectives. One Purpose.
Trauma Understanding
Looking beneath behaviors to understand how attachment, adversity, relationships, and development shape the people we serve.
Clinical Application
Turning that understanding into ethical assessment, thoughtful documentation, practical interventions, and everyday clinical confidence.

Turning Understanding Into Practice
Hi, I'm JJ.
For nearly thirty years, I've had the privilege of serving in behavioral health, higher education, school-based mental health, and private practice. Along the way, I've supervised clinicians, developed programs, responded to crises, and partnered with professionals across schools, hospitals, universities, and community agencies.
One lesson has stayed with me:
Understanding trauma matters.
Knowing what to do with that understanding matters just as much.
How do we recognize what we're seeing?
How do we document it well?
How do we explain it to families?
How do we remain ethical while offering compassionate care?
Those are the conversations I enjoy most.
My goal isn't simply to share information. It's to help counselors leave with greater confidence, clearer clinical thinking, and practical tools they can use the very next day.
Because good training shouldn't stay in a notebook.
It should show up in the counseling room.

Seeing the Story Beyond the Symptoms
Hi, I'm Denver.
My counseling journey didn't begin in my twenties.
Like many of the clients I now serve, my path took a few unexpected turns. Returning to school as an adult reminded me that growth rarely follows a schedule—and that it's never too late for hope, healing, or a new beginning.
During graduate school, I discovered developmental trauma. Learning how attachment, neglect, loss, and early relationships shape our lives transformed the way I understood people—and the way I practice counseling.
Today, my work focuses on helping adults understand the lasting effects of complex trauma, shame, emotional dysregulation, and attachment wounds. Through advanced trauma training, EMDR, and certification as a Certified Complex Trauma Professional, I've continued growing so I can better serve those who trust me with their stories.
My hope is to help you look beneath behaviors and symptoms to understand the adaptations that once helped people survive.
Because when we understand the story beneath the symptoms, we respond with greater compassion, curiosity, and confidence.
And that changes counseling.
Everything we do is guided by a simple set of commitments about how people deserve to be treated.
We call them our Front Porch Promises.
